Came across an interesting article on BBC news today, and thought I would share it. President Obama's staff, in their quest to make budget cuts, have asked Scott McNealy, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems, to prepare a paper on the subject of using Open Source Software as a way to cut costs. Mr. McNealy told BBC that he wanted to make sure the government doesn't get 'locked in' to any specific vendor or company.
I believe it would be a great idea for the government to invest money in Open Source, and would be glad to see some of my tax money being invested in it..as long as the Ruby Community gets its chunk ;).
